| Adoptive Parents :: How the Process Works Essentially, we get to know each other. We will advise you about the eligibility requirements. You must be of good moral character and complete the thorough screening process. We will have a social worker do a home study and this screening process, all of which remain confidential. After attending an informational meeting about our services, you will be asked to submit a "profile" consisting of photos and information about yourselves that will be shared with birthparents. We’ll help you with this. You will be asked to participate in programs rsegarding bonding with adoptive children. Remember that we work in the best interest of the child, not necessarily on a first-come, first-serve basis. The match or quality of the placement is what matters most. After placement we offer you counseling and other support. Then 6 to 18 months after the placement, the adoption is consummated with an appearance in Court and that child is officially yours. Congratulations.
